Monika + Coy

In terms of wedding planning, Monika and Coy were sure about one thing: it just has to be fun! They wanted a killer bash of a party to celebrate their decade-long devoted partnership. But when it came to translating that into a set of aesthetic choices, I could see that they felt overwhelmed. Do we need to have a theme? No! We talked about the essentials of their partnership: world travel filled with tight connections and daring food choices. And resonances began to emerge. We planned a wedding complete with a beer tour, a narrow-gauge train ride, authentic gelato, and many an homage to their adventures. We made these choices by wondering together how we could bring guests into a full experience of their partnership and what guests who didn’t know either of them well might miss about their years-long, durable, mutually acknowledging love. The day was breath-taking—transcendent even. And though it was full of hilarity—of fun—it was the honesty and longevity of their love that took center stage.
